HEADSHOT GUIDELINES
What We’re Looking For
A friendly, approachable photo that shows you as residents and families would meet you. This is about connection, not perfection.
Technical Specs
- Format: JPG or PNG
- Resolution: Minimum 1200 x 1500 pixels (crisp on web and mobile)
- Dimensions: Headshot-only framing (crop from approximately chest/shoulders up)
- File Size: Under 3 MB
- File Name: FirstName_LastName_ED.jpg
How to Photograph
Location & Lighting (choose one):
- Indoors: Well-lit room (near a window, or with soft overhead light—no harsh shadows across face)
- Outdoors: Natural light, early morning or late afternoon (softer angle), simple greenery or natural setting
- Avoid: Direct harsh sunlight, shadows covering part of your face, backlit photos
Background:
- Solid colors: Neutral walls (white, soft gray, beige, light blue) — best for web consistency
- Natural & simple: Plain greenery, soft trees, or natural outdoor settings
- Blurred background: Okay if it’s soft and doesn’t distract from you
- Avoid: Busy backgrounds, cluttered spaces—this is about you, not the setting
Framing & Pose:
- Frame: Chest/shoulders and head (not a full-body shot)
- Angle: Slightly above eye level works best
- Expression: Genuine smile, warm and welcoming—think “greeting a new resident”
- Eyes: Look directly at camera
- Shoulders: Face camera straight on, or turn slightly (avoid extreme angles)
What to Wear:
- Best: Business casual or business professional (blazer, collared shirt, solid dress)
- Colors that work: Jewel tones, solid colors, pastels (avoid white, neon, or busy patterns)
- Avoid: T-shirts, heavy logos, distracting patterns, sunglasses, hats
Submission
- Upload your image file when placing your order (see the link to a tutorial listed above in the description)
